Boeings Airborne Laser (ABL) will locate and track missiles in the boost phase of their flight, then accurately point and fire the high-energy laser, destroying enemy missiles near their launch areas.
This is the YAL-1A test aircraft. It is the flying prototype of the Airborne Laser (ABL) that is designed to shoot down missiles of all varieties, from ballistic, to many other types or aircraft, or missile technology.
